The long-running weekend travel show with John Hamilton "On the Go" will be "on the move" from Saturday morning to Sunday. Hamilton will remain at the help as the 25-year show moves to a shorter format of two hours from three and will air from 8-10 a.m.
News will be provided by the effervescent Katy Lever. She does news now for Hamilton in the show's 5-8 a.m. time slot.
"On the Go" has been on the KGO sked for 50-years, with Hamilton taking over in 1987. Hamilton notes that "On the Go" is the first, long-form talk show on travel and leisure in the country.
Hamilton says that losing the 5-6 a.m. near free-for-all of talk with listeners will be gone. The new two-hour format is dedicated to the many-year regular threesome of long-time co-hosts talking about cruise deals, hotel packages and travel arrangements. The new second hour will focus on local and regional events, travel and leisure topics.
"I'm thrilled," Hamilton says, "...no more waking up at 3:30 with a Pop Tart and a glass of milk for breakfast."
The move from Saturday to Sunday confirms that talker Pat Thurston is moving to the 2-5 afternoon slot on both Saturday and Sunday, as KGO initiates a five-hour news block from 5 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, "God Talk" continues its three-hour run from 5-8 a.m.
